BGFI provides broad exposure to the global fixed income market. It typically invests in bonds, notes, mortgage-related securities, asset-backed securities, floating rate loans (capped at 20%), and Eurodollar and Yankee dollar instruments. The fund seeks opportunities in undervalued markets, sectors, and securities with potential for credit upgrades, unique structures, or innovative features. Its global claim includes up to 40% of exposure to emerging markets, with most foreign currency exposure hedged through derivatives such as forwards, futures, and swaps. The fund primarily invests in investment-grade securities but may hold up to 25% in high-yield bonds rated no lower than B or unrated equivalents. BGFI selects constituents by utilizing fundamental economic research and quantitative analysis, and by actively trades sectors and securities without limits on turnover, maturity, or duration.
