Trump May Issue over 25 Executive Orders on January 20, 2025, Focusing on Immigration and Energy Production

 

The US President-elect Donald Trump planned to issue over 25 executive orders on January 20, 2025, his first day in office, attempting to reshape policies addressing issues including immigration and energy, according to sources.

 

It is the first time that Trump’s number of executive orders has been revealed. Reportedly, Trump has exclusively said that he wanted to exercise executive power more broadly and faster through executive orders.

 

Trump's spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that Americans could expect President Trump to use his executive powers to fulfill campaign promises on his first day.

 

By exercising executive orders, Presidents can skip congressional legislation to fulfill campaign pledges and quickly establish policy goals. However, these orders can face challenges because any funds that carry out orders must be approved by Congress. Trump's team realized that the president and government agencies had many time-consuming coordination of orders, possibly reducing the number of executive orders. Trump's assistant and future senior White House adviser Stephen Miller was coordinating this effort, sources said.

 

Trump's executive orders are expected to focus on overthrowing Joe Biden's loose border policy and preventing a new immigrant wave in the U.S.-Mexico border. Specifically, the US could arrest smuggled illegal immigrants, send more troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, and rebuild the border wall.

 

Additionally, Trump's order would highlight boosting energy production to honor the promise of drilling and hydraulic fracturing.

 

In an interview on Sunday, Trump said his administration's plans, reiterating the tariff hikes, deportation of illegal immigrants, the birthright citizenship ban, and pardons for convicts occupying Capitol Hill.

 

Campaign promises that executive orders have not included are stripping federal funding from schools with Critical Race Theory education, withdrawing partial anti-discrimination protections for transgender students, and banning federal contractors from conducting diversity training.
