Nvidia Announced New GPUs and Full Production of Blackwell Chips Amid Market Expectations

 

 

Nvidia $NVDA CEO Jensen Huang revealed the company's new product, the latest line of RTX graphics processing units (GPUs), during his keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). He also said the Blackwell AI chips have gone into full-scale production.

 

At CES in Las Vegas on Monday, January 6, local time (January 7 Singapore time), Huang introduced the new GPUs that were at least twice as powerful as their predecessors, the RTX 50 series. One of the flagship GPUs is the RTX 5090. Artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to enhance their graphics processing power.

 

Additionally, Huang said that the next-generation Blackwell AI chips, which are more power-efficient than their predecessors while delivering extra performance, are already in full production. Blackwell may be the driver of Nvidia's upcoming earnings growth as major tech companies increase expenditures on infrastructure for AI development.

 

He also described the Cosmos base model that helps robots and self-driving cars understand the physical world. Users can provide Cosmos with text descriptions that Cosmos can use to generate videos of the world that conform to the laws of physics. This application costs less money than current data collection methods do.

 

Through Nvidia's AI model, Huang emphasized that AI programs are designed to handle area-specific mandates.

 

 

Nvidia is centered on a massive valuation boom. In 2024's AI boom, Nvidia showed two consecutive quarters of significant earnings growth, adding about $2 trillion to its market capitalization.

 

However, during this quarter, it presented some disappointing earnings guidance and the undersupply for its Blackwell, raising questions on how much more profitable growth can AI deliver.
