Top 20 in US Stock Trading Volume: Tesla's Shares Fell for the Seventh Consecutive Week, Completely Erasing the Post-Election Gains

On Friday, Nvidia, the stock with the highest trading volume on the US stock market, closed 1.92% higher, with a trading volume of $37.765 billion. Nvidia has fallen 9.79% this week, marking the third consecutive week of decline. The stock has fallen 18.8% in the past three weeks.
Tesla, the second-highest in trading volume, closed 0.30% lower, with a trading volume of $26.495 billion. The stock has fallen 10.35% this week. So far, the stock has recorded a record seven consecutive weeks of decline, erasing all of its gains since the US presidential election.
In the weeks after Trump won the election, investors poured more than $700 billion into Tesla's stock, betting that Musk's relationship with Trump and his growing political status would pay off for the company. But just four months later, this bet has become one of the biggest failures in the US stock market. Tesla has erased its post-election gains today and recorded a record seven-week losing streak.
Analysts said that investors have overlooked a key reality: Tesla's core electric vehicle business, the current source of cash flow, is suffering a decline.
Republicans who oppose electric vehicles are not helping either. And Musk's focus on politics seems to be making matters worse.
David Wagner, a portfolio manager at Aptus Capital Advisors, said, "There has been a lot of irrational exuberance in the stock price after the election, which seems to have basically backfired. Many investors have ridden on the coattails of the relationship between Musk and Trump instead of focusing on the company's fundamentals."
Broadcom, the third-highest in trading volume, closed 8.64% higher, with a trading volume of $14.101 billion. The company's strong first-quarter earnings and performance outlook released show the continued strong demand for artificial intelligence. Aliya, an analyst at Bank of America, said Broadcom's performance is "a reassuring development from a leader in artificial intelligence" and also "a positive interpretation of market sentiment in the artificial intelligence market".
However, Broadcom has fallen 2.24% this week, marking the third consecutive week of decline.
Apple, the sixth-highest in trading volume, closed 1.59% higher, with a trading volume of $10.991 billion. The company has confirmed that it will postpone the release of the new generation of artificial intelligence voice assistant Siri, which is expected to be launched sometime "next year".
Apple said in a statement that the new personalized Siri will be able to access users' personal data, such as emails, messages, files and photos, to better understand users' needs and help them complete tasks. However, it has taken longer than expected to implement these functions.
Palantir, the seventh-highest in trading volume, closed 5.53% higher, with a trading volume of $8.639 billion. It is reported that the company is delivering mobile combat platforms to the US Army as part of the $178 million Titan contract. The Titan contract is a milestone in the cooperation between this data analysis giant and the US military and also a sign of the increasing importance of software in modern warfare.
The mobile combat platform is jointly developed by subcontractors such as Anduril Industries and Northrop Grumman. It looks like a sturdy military truck from the outside. Inside, it is more like a workspace, equipped with foldable desks, multiple screens and servers.
Palantir fell 0.01% slightly this week, marking the third consecutive week of decline.
Strategy, the tenth-highest in trading volume, closed 5.57% lower, with a trading volume of $6.669 billion. Bitcoin-related stocks on the US stock market generally declined on Friday.
Costco, the 11th-highest in trading volume, closed 6.07% lower, with a trading volume of $5.296 billion. The company's profit in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025 was lower than expected. The financial report shows that the company's earnings per share in Q2 were $4.02, lower than the average estimate of $4.11; its revenue was $63.72 billion, an increase of 9.0% year-on-year, exceeding market expectations; and its net profit was $1.79 billion, compared with $1.74 billion in the same period last year, which is lower than market expectations.
Walmart, the 17th-highest in trading volume, closed 3.09% lower, with a trading volume of $3.301 billion. It is reported that Walmart has asked some Chinese suppliers to significantly reduce prices in an attempt to offset the cost pressure brought about by the Trump administration's recent tariff increase. However, this request has been resisted by many Chinese suppliers, and the negotiations between the two sides have reached a deadlock.
Insiders revealed that some Chinese companies, including kitchenware and clothing suppliers, have been asked by Walmart to reduce prices by 10% in each round of tariff adjustments, which is almost equivalent to making suppliers bear all the new tariff costs. But many suppliers said that since the profit margin is already extremely thin, a price reduction of more than 2% to 3% will lead to losses and may even force them to reduce product quality.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the 19th-highest in trading volume, closed 0.71% higher, with a trading volume of $3.099 billion. The stock has fallen 1.9% this week, marking the fourth consecutive week of decline.
Analysts said that the latest agreement reached between TSMC and the Trump administration seems unable to completely eliminate tariff risks. Trump may impose additional taxes on chips manufactured in Taiwan, but in a different way. It's not just about taxing imported chips, but also possibly levying tariffs on the final products that use these chips. This means that the prices of all consumer electronics products using TSMC chips may rise significantly, by up to 100%.
Insiders revealed that the Trump administration is still discussing the possibility of imposing a 100% tariff on TSMC and other chip manufacturers in Taiwan, China. One of the plans is not only to impose import tariffs on Taiwanese chips themselves, but also possibly to levy taxes on electronic devices such as iPhones that use these chips.$TSLA $NVDA $AAPL $TSM $PLTR $AMZN $AVGO $NFLX $META $MRVL $APP
