On Thursday, Tesla closed down 1.40%, with a trading volume of $33.174 billion. The US federal safety regulatory agency recently required Tesla CEO Elon Musk to elaborate on how Tesla's self-driving taxis (Robotaxi) avoid traffic accidents.

It is reported that Tesla plans to pilot the Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas next month and gradually expand it across the United States.

Since the US has not yet established a national standard for autonomous driving, regulatory authorities have limited means to govern Robotaxi without a steering wheel or brake pedals. If Tesla’s response is insufficient, the Austin pilot may be postponed.

UnitedHealth Group closed down 10.93%, with a trading volume of $31.777 billion. The stock has now closed down for 8 consecutive trading days, with a cumulative decline of 32.2%. Year-to-date, the stock has fallen over 45%, making it the worst-performing Dow component during the same period.

Reports indicate the US Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into UnitedHealth Group over potential health insurance fraud.

A UnitedHealth spokesperson later said the company has not received notice of the "rumored" investigation from the DOJ. Since its all-time high in November last year, the healthcare group’s market capitalization has more than halved, exceeding $300 billion.

NVIDIA, the third-highest volume stock, closed down 0.38%, with a trading volume of $30.155 billion. Media reported Thursday that former US President Trump spoke with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang in the UAE. Analysts note Huang’s repeated emphasis that Huawei is NVIDIA’s strongest competitor has likely, in part, prompted the US to take additional measures against Huawei.

This week, NVIDIA and Saudi Arabia’s smart company HUMAIN announced an ultra-large-scale partnership, including providing 18,000 of the most advanced AI chips, GB300, to HUMAIN.

Amazon closed down 2.42%, with a trading volume of $13.105 billion. On May 13 local time, Amazon Web Services and Saudi AI firm HUMAIN announced a strategic partnership to jointly invest over $5 billion in building an "AI zone" in Saudi Arabia.

The statement said the zone will integrate multiple innovative capabilities, including AWS’s exclusive AI infrastructure and servers, the UltraCluster network for accelerating AI training and inference, AWS services like SageMaker and Bedrock, and AI application services like Amazon Q, to help Saudi Arabia achieve its strategic goal of leading global AI development.

Meta Platforms, the seventh-largest volume stock, closed down 2.35%, with a trading volume of $9.179 billion. Reports suggest the company has delayed launching its flagship AI model, "Behemoth." Sources say engineers are struggling to enhance Behemoth’s capabilities, leading staff to question whether improvements over previous versions justify a public release.

Coinbase Global, the ninth-largest volume stock, closed down 7.20%, with a trading volume of $6.365 billion. Media confirmed Thursday that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been investigating whether Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange, overstated user numbers.

The SEC’s probe focuses on the company’s reported "certified user" count, which it claims exceeds 100 million in various securities filings and marketing materials. The news sent the company’s stock price lower. The investigation began under the Biden administration—known for its hostility to crypto—and continues under the Trump administration’s more crypto-friendly SEC leadership.

Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said, "This is a delayed investigation by the last administration into a metric we stopped reporting two and a half years ago, which was fully disclosed to the public. We explained that verified user metrics include all who verified an email or phone number with us, so it may overstate the number of independent users."

Netflix  closed up 2.34%, with a trading volume of $5.195 billion. Netflix said Wednesday its lower-priced, ad-supported subscription plan now has 94 million monthly active users, up more than 20 million since disclosing data last November. The ad-supported plan costs $7.99 monthly, well below its cheapest ad-free plan at $17.99 monthly.

AMD closed down 2.32%, with a trading volume of $5.023 billion. AMD recently announced a partnership with the same Saudi company, planning to jointly invest $10 billion over five years to build a global computing network spanning the Middle East and the US. The move marks a strategic push by US companies in the Middle East to accelerate local AI industry development.

Alibaba closed down 7.57%, with a trading volume of $4.368 billion. For its fourth fiscal quarter, the company reported revenue of ¥236.454 billion ($41.13 billion), up 7% year-over-year. Non-GAAP net profit was ¥29.847 billion ($4.113 billion), up 22% from ¥24.418 billion in the same period last year.

For the full 2025 fiscal year, revenue was ¥996.347 billion, up 6% year-over-year. Non-GAAP net profit was ¥158.122 billion ($21.790 billion), compared with ¥157.479 billion in fiscal 2024.

Fiserv, the 18th-largest volume stock, closed down 16.19%, with a trading volume of $3.854 billion. CFO Robert Hau said the company expects transaction growth for its Clover POS system to be roughly flat with the first quarter this quarter.
