Tonight’s Highlights | Nasdaq Futures Rise Nearly 1% Pre-Market, Focus Shifts to Powell’s Testimony
On Tuesday (June 24), U.S. stock index futures climbed in pre-market trading.
As of this report, Dow Jones futures rose 0.63%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.69%, and Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 0.97%.
In individual stocks, Tesla jumped nearly 2% pre-market, while Apple and Amazon rose over 1%. Stablecoin leader Circle turned lower, dropping over 7%.
Earlier today, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated that Israel has agreed to a U.S.-proposed bilateral ceasefire with Iran, vowing a “strong response” to any violations.
Buoyed by stabilizing Middle East tensions, most European markets in session rose, with Germany’s DAX up 1.69%, the UK’s FTSE 100 up 0.37%, and France’s CAC 40 up 1.26%.
International oil prices continued to fall, with Brent crude futures down over 3% as of this report, hitting a low of $67 per barrel. Yesterday, Brent peaked above $81, marking a two-day swing of about $14.
However, conflict risks haven’t fully dissipated. Just before this report, CCTV News reported that President Trump called Israeli PM Netanyahu, urging him to halt attacks on Iran.
JPMorgan traders noted that as geopolitical risks ease, U.S. stocks are regaining momentum toward record highs, with markets refocusing on macro conditions, preparing for corporate earnings, and eyeing the looming “tariff deadline.”
Later today, Fed Chair Jerome Powell will deliver his semi-annual monetary policy testimony to the House Financial Services Committee. Trump, in a recent post, said he hopes Congress “teaches this super foolish, stubborn man a lesson.”
