S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) reported strong second-quarter 2025 financial results. The company's revenue reached $3.755 billion, marking a 6% increase compared to the second quarter of 2024. GAAP net income rose 6% to $1.072 billion, and GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) grew 9% to $3.50. These results indicate a strong performance in the reported period.

Performance Drivers

The increase in net income was primarily driven by robust growth in the Market Intelligence and S&P Dow Jones Indices segments. Market Intelligence revenue increased 5% to $1.217 billion, while S&P Dow Jones Indices revenue saw a significant 15% increase to $446 million. The Mobility segment also contributed positively with a 10% revenue increase to $438 million.

Operational Efficiencies

The company demonstrated strong operational discipline, with GAAP operating margin increasing by 40 basis points to 41.3% and adjusted operating margin rising by 70 basis points to 51.4%. This margin expansion was largely attributed to growth and efficiency gains within the Market Intelligence and S&P Dow Jones Indices divisions. Martina Cheung, President and CEO, highlighted the balance between expense management and investments in technology, AI, and products.

Strategic Initiatives and Outlook

S&P Global remains on track with the planned separation of its Mobility division, and the divestiture of the OSTTRA Joint Venture is also progressing for completion in 2025. The company's full-year 2025 guidance projects revenue growth of 5% to 7%, GAAP diluted EPS in the range of $14.35 to $14.60, and adjusted diluted EPS between $17.00 and $17.25. The company also expects to execute additional accelerated share repurchases totaling up to $1.3 billion in the coming weeks.
