Amazon's Net Income Soars 35% in Q2 2025
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported robust financial results for Q2 2025, with net sales increasing by 13% to $167.7 billion, up from $148.0 billion in Q2 2024. Net income also saw a significant rise, growing 35% to $18.2 billion, or $1.68 per diluted share, compared to $13.5 billion, or $1.26 per diluted share, in the same period last year. The company's financial performance was bolstered by strong growth across its key segments. North America segment sales increased 11% year-over-year to $100.1 billion, with operating income reaching $7.5 billion. International segment sales grew 16% year-over-year to $36.8 billion, or 11% excluding changes in foreign exchange rates, and its operating income surged to $1.5 billion. The AWS segment continued its strong trajectory, with sales increasing 17.5% year-over-year to $30.9 billion, contributing $10.2 billion in operating income.
AI and Operational Innovations Drive Growth
President and CEO Andy Jassy highlighted the significant impact of AI advancements on the company's performance, noting expanded use of Alexa+, the shopping agent, and the launch of AI models like DeepFleet which optimizes productivity for robots. Other innovations include Kiro, an agentic integrated development environment, Strands for building AI agents, and Bedrock AgentCore for secure and scalable agent operations. Strategic Developments and Future Outlook
Amazon held its biggest Prime Day event, achieving record sales for independent sellers. The company also expanded its Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery services across the U.S. and introduced generative AI tools to enhance the shopping experience. Project Kuiper’s satellite internet fleet saw an increase in low earth orbit satellites, and new AWS agreements were signed with major entities like PepsiCo and Airbnb. For Q3 2025, Amazon anticipates net sales to be between $174.0 billion and $179.5 billion, representing a growth of 10% to 13% compared to Q3 2024, with operating income expected to range from $15.5 billion to $20.5 billion.
