Stryker (NYSE:SYK) reported strong operating results for the second quarter of 2025, with net sales increasing by 11.1% to $6.0 billion. This figure surpassed the analyst estimate of $5.93 billion. Reported net earnings for the quarter rose by 7.2% to $884 million, resulting in a reported diluted EPS of $2.29. Adjusted diluted EPS increased by 11.4% to $3.13, beating the analyst estimate of $3.06.

Performance Drivers

The company's robust performance was significantly driven by its MedSurg and Neurotechnology segment, which saw net sales increase by 17.3% to $3.8 billion. Within this segment, Vascular sales surged by 52.3% and Neuro Cranial sales by 19.8%, highlighting strong demand in these areas. Orthopaedics net sales also contributed positively, increasing by 2.0% to $2.2 billion. Excluding the divested Spinal implant business, Orthopaedics growth increased by 10.7%, with Trauma and Extremities and Hips showing gains of 15.0% and 8.9% respectively.

Management Outlook

Reflecting on these results, Kevin A. Lobo, Chair and CEO, commented on the double-digit sales and adjusted earnings per share growth, attributing it to strong product demand, a durable innovation pipeline, and ongoing operational execution. The company is raising its full-year 2025 guidance, now expecting organic net sales growth of 9.5% to 10.0% and adjusted net earnings per diluted share in the range of $13.40 to $13.60. This updated outlook includes a modestly favorable pricing impact and a slightly positive effect from foreign exchange rates, assuming current levels hold.

Furthermore, the company anticipates a net impact from tariffs in 2025 of approximately $175 million. This estimate incorporates recent updates, including a reduction in bilateral United States and China tariffs, as well as the proposed tariff framework between the United States and the European Union.
