On Tuesday, U.S. stock index futures rose, and major European indices also posted broad gains.

Following last Friday’s sharp decline, market sentiment has continued to recover, bolstered by growing confidence in the Federal Reserve’s imminent rate cuts and solid overall corporate earnings performance.

According to the CME FedWatch Tool, investors now see an 88% chance of a rate cut next month, up from 63% a week ago.

FactSet data shows that 370 S&P 500 companies have reported earnings, with over 81% exceeding market expectations.

“We must respect the current momentum trend in the market; we’re still in a very strong upward channel,” said Cameron Dawson, chief investment officer at NewEdge Wealth. “However, volatility in August isn’t surprising as we enter this period.”

Statistically, August has been the worst-performing month for the Dow on average since 1988 and the second-worst for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq.
