Franco-Nevada (FNV) Reports Record Q2 2025 Profit and Revenue, Exceeds EPS Estimates
Franco-Nevada (FNV.US) reported record financial results for Q2 2025, driven by higher gold prices and contributions from recently acquired precious metal assets. Revenue surged to $369.4 million, marking a 42% increase from Q2 2024. Adjusted Net Income reached $238.5 million, up 65% year-over-year, translating to an Adjusted Net Income per share of $1.24, significantly exceeding the analyst estimate of $1.1. Operating cash flow also achieved a new record at $430.3 million, representing a 121% increase compared to the prior year quarter.
Precious Metals Drive Record Revenue
Precious Metal assets were the primary contributor to Franco-Nevada's strong performance, accounting for 82% of total revenue in Q2 2025. Gold revenue alone reached $258.4 million, benefiting from record gold prices during the quarter. Gold GEOs sold increased significantly to 78,738 from 66,999 in Q2 2024, highlighting the impact of recent acquisitions and new production.
Key assets like Guadalupe-Palmarejo showed substantially higher GEOs, and Tocantinzinho contributed 4,500 GEOs as its mill performance improved. The company’s NPI (Net Profit Interest) from Hemlo and Musselwhite also increased significantly due to higher gold prices and increased production from royalty ground. This segment’s strong growth underscores the company’s strategic focus on precious metals.
Strategic Acquisitions and Growth Outlook
Franco-Nevada executed several significant acquisitions during and post-quarter-end, bolstering its long-term growth prospects. These include a 7.5% gross margin royalty on IAMGOLD's Cote Gold Mine for $1,050.0 million and an additional 1.62% NSR on Nevada Gold Mines' Gold Quarry for $10.5 million. Post-quarter-end, the company acquired a 1.0% NSR on AngloGold's Arthur Gold Project for $250.0 million, further expanding its portfolio in major gold-producing regions.
Management anticipates increased GEO sales in the latter half of 2025, driven by higher deliveries from Antapaccay, full quarter contributions from Porcupine and Cote, and initial contributions from Vale’s Southeastern System. The company remains on track to meet its previously announced 2025 GEO sales guidance, demonstrating confidence in its expanded asset base. The successful shipment of remaining copper concentrate from Cobre Panama is also expected to contribute approximately 10,000 GEOs, further enhancing the outlook.
