U.S. stock futures for the three major indices edged higher in pre-market trading on Wednesday, extending their record-breaking rally, as expectations for a Federal Reserve rate cut continued to heat up, boosting risk appetite across the board while U.S. Treasury yields declined in tandem.

As of press time, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.35%, Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.37%, and S&P 500 futures increased by 0.28%.

Despite U.S. President Trump’s tariffs impacting prices of some consumer goods, U.S. inflation remained stable in July, suggesting the Federal Reserve may still cut rates next month.

Data showed the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.7% year-over-year in July, unchanged from June and below expectations.

Optimism about a dovish stance was further supported by easing global trade tensions and U.S. corporate earnings significantly exceeding forecasts.

The CME FedWatch tool indicates traders now see a near 94% probability of a rate cut at the Fed’s September meeting.

Michael Brown, senior research strategist at Pepperstone, commented: “The bullish logic remains compelling—robust corporate earnings growth, easing trade frictions, and dovish monetary policy expectations provide a buffer, even if the economy may be slowing beneath the surface.”

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, in an interview on the same day, stated that the Fed’s interest rates should be 150-175 basis points lower than current levels.

If the data is accurate, the Fed might have cut rates earlier, and he suggested a potential 50-basis-point cut, with a series of cuts possibly starting with a 50-basis-point reduction in September.

Cava plummeted 24% in pre-market trading after reporting second-quarter revenue below expectations and lowering its full-year same-store sales growth forecast.

CoreWeave fell about 9%, despite strong revenue growth, as its second-quarter performance showed mixed results.
