On Tuesday local time, Apple announced its annual fall event, scheduled for 10 AM PDT on September 9 (1 AM Beijing time on the 10th) at its headquarters, themed “Awe dropping.”

The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, drawing close attention from both consumers and investors as Apple lags behind competitors in the AI technology race.

Historically, Apple events were live with executives demonstrating features on stage, but since 2020, they have shifted to pre-recorded videos. Apple confirmed Tuesday that this event will be streamed live on its website.

As per tradition, Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 17 series.

Rumors suggest the new iPhone models may feature a horizontal camera module similar to Google’s Pixel on the back. Apple might also introduce the Liquid Glass interface design in iOS 26, along with other software updates, while further showcasing Apple Intelligence features, such as AI upgrades to Siri.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly set to launch a slimmer model, possibly named iPhone 17 Air, with trade-offs in camera and battery life for a lighter, thinner design.

Beyond the iPhone, the lineup may include new Apple Watch models (entry-level and premium), an upgraded iPad Pro, and a more powerful Vision Pro headset.

This event will also serve as a key platform for Apple to display its latest AI technology advancements. The market is keenly focused on how Apple will compete in the intense AI race and integrate related features into Siri and other services.

Last week, reports indicated Apple is exploring using Google Gemini to support its updated Siri voice assistant. Earlier this year, it held discussions with Anthropic and OpenAI to evaluate whether Claude or ChatGPT could power the new Siri.

Notably, amid this event, Apple faces pressure from U.S. tariffs on major manufacturing hubs like India, making investors particularly attentive to whether new products can drive fresh growth.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a preliminary notice on Monday, proposing a 50% tariff on Indian goods effective from 12:01 AM on August 27.

Earlier this month, Apple announced an additional $100 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing, widely seen by market analysts as a move to secure tariff exemptions.
