AeroVironment (AVAV.US) announced strong financial results for the first fiscal quarter ended August 2, 2025, with revenue reaching $454.7 million, marking a significant 140% increase year-over-year. This performance surpassed the analyst revenue estimate of $436,939,420.

Despite the robust revenue growth, the company reported a net loss of $(67.4) million, or $(1.44) per diluted share, compared to a net income of $21.2 million, or $0.75 per diluted share, in the prior-year period. However, non-GAAP earnings per diluted share stood at $0.32, falling short of the analyst estimate of $0.34.

Strong Business Segment Performance

The substantial revenue growth was primarily driven by the successful acquisition of BlueHalo on May 1, 2025, which contributed $235.2 million to the first quarter's revenue. Product sales increased by $154.0 million and service revenue by $111.2 million, significantly boosting overall performance.

From a segment perspective, Autonomous Systems ("AxS") recorded revenue of $285.3 million, while the newly formed Space, Cyber and Directed Energy ("SCDE") segment, largely from the BlueHalo acquisition, contributed $169.4 million. The company's record first quarter backlog of $1.1 billion and bookings of $399.0 million further underscore the strong demand for its diversified solutions across various defense domains.

Management Outlook and Strategic Focus

Management expressed confidence in the company's future, highlighting the continued strength across both the Autonomous Systems and Space, Cyber and Directed Energy segments. AeroVironment maintains its fiscal year 2026 revenue guidance between $1.9 billion and $2.0 billion.

The company also expects non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA to be between $300 million and $320 million, with non-GAAP earnings per diluted share projected to be between $3.60 and $3.70 for the full fiscal year. This outlook is supported by a strong 82% visibility to the midpoint of the fiscal year 2026 revenue guidance range.
