Will Bitcoin Easily Reach $200,000 Before Year-End?
Tom Lee, co-founder and research head of the US investment firm Fundstrat Global Advisors, known as the “Wall Street Oracle,” predicted on Monday that Bitcoin could hit a “milestone” of $200,000 per coin by the end of this year.
In his latest interview, Lee stated that the Federal Reserve is expected to cut rates at its next monetary policy meeting on September 17, which would boost Bitcoin prices.
“Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum are highly sensitive to monetary policy. I believe September 17 is a key catalyst. I think Bitcoin can easily reach $200,000 by year-end, and I know that’s a big jump,” he added.
According to CoinGecko data, Bitcoin’s recent trading price is slightly above $112,000, up less than one percent in the past 24 hours. After investor concerns over inflation, the US economy, and other macroeconomic uncertainties, Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $124,128 last month.

Lee was one of the few bulls on Wall Street in 2023. At the end of 2022, he predicted the S&P 500 would surge more than 20% to 4,750 points in 2023. Remarkably, the index saw an unexpected rally that year, ending just over 30 points shy of his target. Reports indicate that among strategists tracked by Bloomberg, Lee’s prediction was the closest, earning him the nickname “Wall Street Oracle.”
Although the Fed has moved slowly on rate cuts this year, frequent data showing a cooling US labor market has led to widespread expectations of a rate cut at this month’s FOMC meeting. Standard Chartered even predicts a 50-basis-point cut this month, double the previously estimated 25-basis-point reduction.
Lee emphasized that, historically, as liquidity enters the market, cryptocurrencies tend to perform well in low-interest-rate environments, much like stocks. Last year’s three Fed rate cuts all led to price increases in major cryptocurrencies.
Coincidentally, analysts at Wall Street firm Bernstein have also suggested that the current crypto bull market is just beginning. They believe Bitcoin could reach a cycle peak of $150,000 to $200,000 within the next 6 to 12 months, describing this as a “long and exhausting bull run” that could extend to 2027.
“Now we believe the Trump administration is in mission-critical mode (including SEC/CFTC) to position the US as the global crypto capital, so the market peak is still far off. We expect a prolonged bull market in cryptocurrencies lasting until 2026, potentially peaking in 2027,” the analysts noted.
In late July, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins announced “Project Crypto,” an initiative to create “clear and simple road rules” for crypto assets. Meanwhile, the GENIUS Act, signed into law by Trump, established the first federal framework for USD-backed stablecoins, marking another significant milestone.
