Bybit Secures UAE's First Virtual Asset Platform License, Kicking Off a New Chapter in Crypto Trading
The world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, Bybit, announced it has officially received a Virtual Asset Platform Operator license from the UAE's Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

Bybit is now the first crypto exchange to gain full official approval in the country. This landmark license provides investors with a secure, compliant digital asset trading platform, signaling the start of a new era for regulated crypto trading in the UAE.
The approval allows Bybit to operate fully within the UAE's regulatory framework, ensuring adherence to local laws while offering a safe and reliable environment for digital asset trading. This move aligns perfectly with the UAE's ambition to become a global hub for blockchain and digital finance.
Post-license, Bybit will roll out a wide range of digital asset services for both retail and institutional investors, including spot crypto trading, futures, and derivatives.
With the license in hand, Bybit aims to forge partnerships with local financial institutions to enhance the trading ecosystem. Plans include expanding services with training resources, trading tools, and localized offerings—potentially featuring Arabic language support, region-specific promotions, and financial products tailored to Middle Eastern needs.
Additionally, Bybit is accelerating its commercial footprint in the UAE by establishing a major regional operations center in Abu Dhabi, planning to hire over 500 staff from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The company is ramping up local recruitment in compliance, operations, and customer service, while collaborating with partners on education and Web3 innovation projects to grow its presence.
As part of its economic diversification strategy, the UAE government is actively promoting blockchain technology, digital currencies, and crypto trading. Bybit’s license is a tangible step forward, sending a strong signal to global investors about the UAE’s commitment to regulated digital finance.
With growing demand for digital finance in the Middle East, Bybit’s long-term investment in the UAE could boost confidence among other global crypto exchanges, encouraging more to pursue local compliance. This will foster a more diverse and competitive digital asset market, ultimately benefiting investors and accelerating industry evolution.
