Domino's Pizza Q3 2025 Profit Declines Despite Revenue Growth
Domino's Pizza (DPZ.US) reported a decrease in net income for the third quarter of 2025, reaching $139.3 million, a decline of 5.2% compared to the third quarter of 2024. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) also saw a decrease to $4.08, down 2.6% from $4.19 in the prior year period. This EPS figure fell short of the analyst estimate of $4.00. Total revenues for the quarter increased by 6.2% to $1,147.1 million.

Revenue Performance Drivers
The increase in total revenues was primarily driven by higher supply chain revenues and increased U.S. franchise royalties, fees, and advertising revenues. Supply chain revenues benefited from higher order volumes and a 3.3% increase in the Company’s food basket pricing to stores. U.S. franchise royalties, fees, and advertising revenues were boosted by same-store sales growth and net store growth over the trailing four quarters.
Despite the overall revenue growth, U.S. Company-owned store gross margin decreased by 0.5 percentage points due to higher food basket pricing and increased wage rates. However, supply chain gross margin improved by 0.7 percentage points, primarily attributed to procurement productivity, partially offset by rising food basket costs.
Operational and Financial Highlights
Income from operations increased by 12.2% to $223.2 million, primarily due to higher U.S. franchise royalties and fees, and gross margin dollar growth within the supply chain segment. Excluding the positive impact of foreign currency exchange rates on international franchise royalty revenues, income from operations still grew by 11.8%.
However, the decline in net income was largely influenced by an unfavorable change of $29.2 million in unrealized losses and gains related to the Company’s investment in DPC Dash Ltd. An increase in the provision for income taxes, with the effective tax rate rising to 22.3% from 20.4%, also contributed to the decrease in net income.
Management Commentary and Strategic Direction
CEO Russell Weiner highlighted the success of the 'Hungry for MORE' strategy, which led to positive order counts in the U.S. through promotions like the 'Best Deal Ever' and new product innovations such as stuffed crust pizza. This strategy resulted in strong growth across both delivery and carryout businesses, reinforcing confidence in the Company's ability to gain QSR pizza market share globally.
The Company also completed a $1.00 billion refinancing transaction on September 5, 2025, which included the issuance of $500.0 million of 4.930% fixed rate senior secured notes and $500.0 million of 5.217% fixed rate senior secured notes. The proceeds were used to repay existing debt and prefund a portion of interest, optimizing the Company's capital structure.
