Chevron (CVX.US) reported third quarter 2025 earnings of $3.5 billion ($1.82 per share), a notable decrease from $4.5 billion ($2.48 per share) in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $3.6 billion ($1.85 per share), falling short of analyst estimates of $1.66 per share. This decline was primarily attributed to lower crude oil prices, severance, and other transaction costs related to the Hess acquisition.

Despite the earnings dip, the company achieved record production of 4.1 million BOE per day, marking a 21 percent increase from the prior year. Cash flow from operations remained strong at $9.4 billion, with adjusted free cash flow rising over 50 percent year-over-year to $7.0 billion.

Record Production Driven by Hess Acquisition and Growth Initiatives

Worldwide and U.S. net oil-equivalent production reached new company records during the third quarter. The acquisition of Hess Corporation contributed significantly, adding 495 MBOED to production figures.

An additional 227 MBOED increase came from legacy Chevron production growth, bolstered by gains in the Permian Basin and the ramp-up of projects at the company’s Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) affiliate and in the Gulf of America. This strong production performance was a key operational highlight for the quarter.

Strategic Acquisitions and Project Sanctions

The integration of Hess Corporation is progressing as planned, with management highlighting its role in unlocking synergies and positioning Chevron as a premier global energy company. Following the Hess transaction, Chevron divested its interest in the Malaysia-Thailand joint development area, streamlining its asset portfolio.

During the quarter, Chevron also achieved first oil at Yellowtail, the fourth development in Guyana’s offshore Stabroek block, and sanctioned the Hammerhead project, the seventh Stabroek block development in Guyana. These strategic moves underscore the company's commitment to expanding its global energy footprint and securing future growth.
