ExxonMobil Announces Strong Q3 2025 Profit and Production Records
ExxonMobil (XOM.US) reported strong third-quarter 2025 earnings of $7.5 billion, or $1.76 per common share. When excluding identified items, non-GAAP earnings reached $8.1 billion, or $1.88 per common share, surpassing the analyst EPS estimate of $1.81.

Upstream Segment Drives Performance
The Upstream segment delivered third-quarter earnings of $5.7 billion, marking an increase of $277 million from the second quarter. This improvement was largely attributed to advantaged volumes, driven by record production in Guyana and the Permian Basin.
Notably, quarterly production in Guyana surpassed 700,000 barrels per day, and the Yellowtail development commenced operations four months ahead of schedule and under budget. The Permian Basin also set a new production record, reaching nearly 1.7 million oil-equivalent barrels per day, bolstered by proprietary technologies that enhance well recoveries.
Strategic Growth Initiatives and Operational Efficiency
ExxonMobil advanced its growth ambitions through key acquisitions and technological investments. The company acquired over 80,000 additional net acres in the Permian Basin, providing further opportunities for technological deployment and increased returns.
The company also commissioned its next-generation supercomputer, Discovery 6, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA, significantly enhancing its ability to process and analyze reservoir and exploration data. Furthermore, ExxonMobil achieved an additional $2.2 billion in structural cost savings in 2025, contributing to cumulative savings of over $14 billion since 2019 and remaining on track to reach over $18 billion by the end of 2030.
Shareholder Returns and Project Progress
ExxonMobil demonstrated its commitment to shareholder returns, distributing $9.4 billion in the third quarter, comprising $4.2 billion in dividends and $5.1 billion in share repurchases. The company increased its fourth-quarter dividend to $1.03 per share, marking 43 consecutive years of annual dividend growth.
The company has successfully started up eight of its 10 key projects for 2025, with the remaining two on schedule. This progress highlights ExxonMobil's strong execution capabilities and its focus on delivering value through strategic project developments.
