Tonight’s Highlights | U.S. Stock Index Futures Rise Collectively, Amazon Up Over 13% Pre-Market
On Friday, U.S. stock index futures rose collectively. Boosted by Amazon and Apple, Nasdaq 100 futures up over 1%. Major European indices mostly down.
Amazon stock surged over 13% pre-market. The e-commerce giant's earnings showed Q3 AWS revenue up 20%, beating Wall Street expectations. The company also plans data center expansion.
Apple stock up ~2% pre-market, driven by hot iPhone 17 sales. Latest quarterly report beat expectations, forecasting strong next quarter.
Wedbush Securities global tech research head Dan Ives wrote in Amazon report: "With AWS growth back on acceleration track this quarter and positive management comments, we believe investors are reconfirmed in Amazon's AI leadership."
Payne Capital Management senior wealth advisor Courtney Garcia: "Government in shutdown... so we must focus more on corporate earnings, business operations, and consumer performance. Results so far mostly positive—I think good sign for economic outlook."
Overall, U.S. stocks on track for weekly and monthly gains. S&P 500 up 0.45% week-to-date; Nasdaq and Dow up ~1.6% and 0.7%.
October historically one of most volatile months for U.S. stocks, but this year S&P 500 up 2% MTD, Nasdaq up nearly 4.1%, Dow up 2.4%. Dow on pace for sixth straight monthly gain—first since 2018.

SpaceX Submits "Simplified" Moon Landing Plan
SpaceX said October 30 it submitted a "simplified" moon landing plan to NASA. Media reports NASA recently dissatisfied with SpaceX human lander progress; company launches shorter-timeline plan under pressure.
