Global Highlights This Week: Buffett May Deliver "Final Lesson"  

As the overvalued U.S. tech sector saw its biggest drop in nearly six months last week, investors will continue this week seeking clues on U.S. economic conditions and any good or bad news on ending the government "shutdown."  

 

Though bipartisan talks improved past two days, as of publication, Polymarket data shows over 60% probability U.S. government shutdown unresolved this week.  

 

 

During shutdown, official U.S. economic data remains "blank," market relies on questionable private data. But with recent U.S. liquidity indicators tight, this week's "Treasury issuance wave" worth close watch: Treasury auctions $58 billion 3-year notes Monday, $42 billion 10-year Wednesday, $25 billion 30-year Thursday.  

 

Also Tuesday Veterans Day, bond market closed, but stock market unaffected. Friday deadline for Q3 13F filings, regular show for retail to review famous investors' moves.  

 

 

With economic data absent, U.S. earnings under closer scrutiny, especially AI-hype stocks—Nvidia-linked CoreWeave, chain stars Cisco, Applied Materials, power semiconductor leader Infineon all report, warming up for Nvidia earnings next week.  

 

Finally, for global investors, special event Monday: Buffett's Thanksgiving letter to shareholders.  

 

Berkshire Hathaway announced Friday: "Since May Berkshire shareholder meeting, Mr. Buffett rarely public comments. Monday (November 10), Berkshire to release press release including Mr. Buffett's address on philanthropy, Berkshire, and other matters of interest to shareholders and public."

This letter's importance: Given Buffett rare appearances recently, may be his last as Berkshire CEO. Parsing announcement, "philanthropy" likely his annual Thanksgiving donations to family foundations, but "Berkshire and other matters" possibly farewell message.
