MUFG Posts Net Income of ¥1,292.96 Billion in H1 2025, Exceeding Analyst Expectations

The company's domestic offices experienced a slight decrease in gross profits, totaling ¥733.05 billion compared to ¥752.36 billion in the previous period. However, non-domestic gross profits showed strong growth, rising to ¥936.93 billion from ¥810.68 billion, indicating robust international performance.

 

Loans to be disclosed under the Banking Act and the Financial Reconstruction Act decreased by 7.5% to ¥1,414.68 billion, reflecting improved asset quality. This reduction was primarily driven by a significant decline in doubtful loans and special attention loans.

 

Management Outlook

MUFG has set an earning target of ¥2,100.0 billion in profits attributable to owners of parent for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company acknowledges various uncertainties in the economic situation and market environments, which influence its financial service businesses, including banking, trust banking, securities, and credit card/loan businesses.
