He noted the benefits from the new IPO FINI regime in Hong Kong and sustained growth in Malaysia due to product localization efforts, including Bursa derivatives, SGX futures, and AI tools supporting the Malay language.
The company also saw broad-based strength in its U.S. business, with high double-digit sequential growth in new funded accounts and an increase in option traders. Furthermore, crypto trading volume soared 161% quarter-over-quarter, driven by increased crypto assets and trading velocity, with Ethereum overtaking Bitcoin as the most traded coin.
Share Repurchase Program
In a strategic move to enhance shareholder value, Futu's board of directors authorized a new share repurchase program. This program allows the company to repurchase up to US$800 million worth of its American Depositary Shares (ADSs) over a 24-month period, extending until December 31, 2027.
The company plans to fund these repurchases from its existing cash balance, demonstrating confidence in its financial position and future prospects. This initiative follows the expiration of a previous repurchase program and underscores management's commitment to returning capital to shareholders.
