Stock Market

On Monday (November 24), the three major U.S. indices rebounded across the board.

At the close, the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.69% to 22,872.01, marking its largest single-day gain since May; the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.44% to 46,448.27; the S&P 500 rose 1.55% to 6,705.12.

The "Magnificent Seven" stocks all advanced, with Google up over 6% as investors grew increasingly optimistic about the company's leadership in artificial intelligence—its latest AI model, Gemini 3, released last week, received widespread praise in the industry.

Enthusiasm for Google stock spilled over to other names, with chipmaker Broadcom up over 11%, Micron Technology up nearly 8%, and AMD and Lam Research up over 5%; in software, AppLovin rose over 6% and Palantir about 5%.

Melissa Brown, Managing Director of Investment Decision Research at SimCorp, commented, "This is certainly good news for Alphabet and its investors, but whenever one stock leads the entire market higher, it always makes me a bit worried."

"Because we may not be seeing an overall market improvement," Brown added. "In my view, this doesn't seem sufficient to serve as sustainable momentum to drive the market higher in the coming days."

Earlier in the session, Fed Governor Christopher Waller said he favors a rate cut in December. On Friday, New York Fed President John Williams expressed a similar view.

CME Group's "FedWatch" tool shows the market now prices in an 81% probability of a 25 basis-point cut in December.

"We must clear away all obstacles to embracing this transformation. Otherwise, we will miss the wave of AI applications and jeopardize Europe's future."
