GoAI Market Wrap - 25th Feb
Stock Market
Overnight, U.S. markets enjoyed a session of quiet gains. The software sector staged a broad recovery after the high-profile AI startup Anthropic signaled a "collaboration over replacement" approach during its latest briefing, easing fears that had recently triggered a global sell-off in software stocks.
By the close, the S&P 500 rose 0.77% to 6,890.07; the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.04% to 22,863.68; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.76% to 49,174.50.
The relief in the software space followed Anthropic’s announcement of partnerships with several legacy software firms to co-launch workplace-oriented AI agents. This positive sentiment propelled Thomson Reuters up 11.41%, while SaaS leader Salesforce rose 4.07% and FactSet gained 5.9%.
Wedbush Securities noted in a Tuesday report that the event suggests competitive risks from AI are overstated, as models currently lack the ability to replace entire workflows deeply embedded in existing infrastructure.
However, Tuesday served as a quiet window before major catalysts: President Trump is set to deliver his annual State of the Union address, where investors will scrutinize his stance on Iran and tariffs.
Furthermore, market bellwether NVIDIA is scheduled to release its earnings report after tomorrow's close.

Citron Research Launches Short Attack on SanDisk
Short-seller Citron Research announced a short position in SanDisk on Tuesday, causing the stock to tumble 4.2% by the close. Citron argues there is a "clear mismatch" in SanDisk's valuation, as the market is pricing a highly cyclical NAND flash company as a core AI asset with a long-term moat.
Citron maintains that NAND remains a supply-dependent commodity industry and warned that the current shortage could vanish quickly once Samsung improves its yields and ramps up high-end SSD production.
