Stock Market
U.S. equity markets staged a massive relief rally on Tuesday, recording their largest single-day gains since May of last year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 1,125 points as both Washington and Tehran telegraphed a willingness to de-escalate a conflict that has rattled global supply chains and ignited inflationary fears.
The pivot in sentiment follows reports that President Trump informed aides he is prepared to conclude military operations against Iran, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely obstructed. U.S. officials have reportedly assessed that a forced reopening of the waterway would extend the military timeline far beyond the initial 4-to-6-week framework. Consequently, the administration appears inclined to wind down the campaign after achieving primary objectives, such as degrading Iran's naval and missile capabilities.
During Tuesday's session, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed a readiness to end the war, provided Tehran's demands are met—specifically regarding guarantees against future aggression. This shift triggered a vertical ascent in gold and risk assets. "Capital markets today are reflecting expectations of an early conclusion or ceasefire," noted Bill Northey, Senior Investment Director at U.S. Bank Wealth Management.
Equities also benefited from a reprieve in the bond market, with the 10-year Treasury yield falling to 4.31%, down from 4.35% on Monday and 4.44% last weekend. On the economic front, February JOLTS job openings fell more than expected, with hiring dropping to its lowest level in nearly six years.
While the rally was broad-based, Eric Diton, President of The Wealth Alliance, warned: "We aren't out of the woods yet. Ultimately, if we don't resolve the oil supply issue, the pressure remains."

Trump’s Consideration of Ending Iran Conflict Boosts Markets; Bitcoin Rallies Alongside Risk Assets
Reports indicate that President Trump has informed aides the U.S. could conclude military operations against Iran without forcibly re-blocking the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a potentially swifter end to the conflict than previously anticipated. In response, S&P 500 futures reversed earlier losses to climb approximately 1%.
"The market is pricing in the expectation that Trump wants an exit from the war," said Pratik Kala, Portfolio Manager at digital asset hedge fund Apollo Crypto. "Bitcoin has demonstrated remarkable resilience around the $68,000 level."
Despite the rally, investors continue to seek downside protection. Data from crypto options platform Deribit shows a concentration of over $1.5 billion in open interest for put options with a $60,000 strike price. However, Kala suggested that the aggressive buying of puts may subside in the coming weeks.
"Bitcoin is showing extraordinary fortitude, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by fund managers across the board," he noted.
