As Elon Musk’s SpaceX prepares to make its highly anticipated public debut tonight, rampant investor enthusiasm is driving an immediate wave of synthetic and leveraged trading products. Multiple asset managers are tracking to deploy single-stock leveraged ETFs just days post-listing.

Simon Hyman, Global Investment Strategist at ProShares, confirmed Thursday that the firm plans to debut the ProShares Ultra SpaceX ETF (Ticker: SPCF) this coming Monday. The vehicle is engineered to deliver two times the daily performance of SpaceX common equity.

While an earlier press release from ProShares indicated the fund would hit the market concurrent with the IPO today, Hyman’s latest update signals a brief operational delay to next Monday's session.

Concurrently, Themes ETFs is prepping a dual-leveraged product suite consisting of a 2x long and a 2x short vehicle: the Leverage Shares 2X Long SpaceX Daily ETF (Ticker: SPCH) and the Leverage Shares 2X Short SpaceX Daily ETF (Ticker: SSPC).

Paul Marino, Chief Revenue Officer at Themes ETFs, noted Thursday that the firm expects these products to begin trading on the Cboe Options Exchange at 4:00 AM Eastern Time next Monday.

Marino added that while Themes initially targeted a New York Stock Exchange listing, they ultimately pivoted to Cboe's accelerated listing pipeline to guarantee market participants the earliest possible trading access.

Hyman observed that because mega-caps like SpaceX are choosing to remain in private markets significantly longer than legacy historical averages, the public market has accumulated massive "pent-up demand." This structural hunger is clearly reflected in the blockbuster retail and institutional bookbuilding for the SpaceX IPO.

SpaceX is scheduled to officially list tonight at an IPO price of $135 per share, commanding an initial baseline market capitalization of $1.77 trillion—cementing its status as the largest IPO in corporate history.

Looking ahead, as SpaceX undergoes fast-track integration into major equity benchmarks, index funds and passive ETFs tracking the Nasdaq 100 will automatically absorb the equity into their portfolios. However, for traders seeking directional, high-conviction expressions, these leveraged ETFs offer a more versatile and aggressive toolkit.

Unlike standard equity trackers, leveraged ETFs rely heavily on derivatives like swaps and futures to amplify daily returns. Consequently, any single-day upside is multiplied, but any localized sell-off compounds losses at the exact same ratio.

Hyman noted that single-stock wrappers have rapidly evolved into one of the fastest-growing sleeves within the broader leveraged ETF landscape.

Amplified Risk Mechanics

The potential for magnified returns inherently introduces acute tail risk. For example, under ProShares' 2x long architecture, a 5% single-day advance in SpaceX equity would theoretically yield a 10% gain for the ETF; conversely, a 5% decline would trigger a sharp 10% drawdown.

Hyman cautioned active traders that any position established in the ProShares Ultra SpaceX ETF must be tightly managed within a broader portfolio and risk-mitigation framework.

Themes ETFs similarly emphasized that both its 2x long and 2x short offerings strictly target the daily performance of the underlying asset. The short vehicle enables tactical allocators to bet against the aerospace giant, positioning them to extract gains should the stock face an initial post-IPO cooling period.

However, due to the structural mechanics of daily compounding and rebalancing, these funds can suffer net losses over extended holding periods even if the underlying stock trends favorably over the long run.

"For holding periods extending beyond a single trading session, a flat or sideways trend in SpaceX equity can result in structural compounding decay, eroding the fund's net asset value," Themes warned in a Wednesday prospectus disclosure.

Themes further underscored that directional miscalculations in a 2x geared vehicle carry severe financial consequences.

"If SpaceX equity experiences a single-day gap or intraday move exceeding 50% in the wrong direction, investors face the very real prospect of a total wipeout, losing 100% of their initial principal within a single session."
