QTAC aims for capital appreciation through a mix of US equity index futures, leveraged US equity and fixed income index ETFs, money market funds, Treasurys, and short-term bonds. The fund tactically allocates assets using algorithmic models, which may incorporate technical, economic, and fundamental signals. Depending on whether signals are bullish or bearish, the fund can invest up to 150% in index futures and ETFs, or take short positions in index futures and inverse ETFs. In addition, fixed income investments are made when US equity markets are deemed unfavorable. Notional exposure from index futures and ETFs can range from +150% to -150% due to leverage. The funds leveraged positions depend on whether signals indicate strength/weakness in the indexes. Trades may be short- or long-term and may involve active and frequent trading. The actively managed fund has full discretion to adjust the portfolio at any time, including use of additional market signals as it deems necessary.
