Duke Energy Corporation (DUK-PA) is a prominent energy provider operating across the United States, managing its diverse portfolio through three main divisions: Electric Utilities and Infrastructure, Gas Utilities and Infrastructure, and Commercial Renewables. The Electric Utilities and Infrastructure segment is responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity, primarily serving customers in the Carolinas, Florida, and the Midwestern states. It utilizes a diverse fuel mix, including coal, hydroelectric, natural gas, oil, renewable sources, and nuclear power. This segment also supplies wholesale power to various entities such as municipalities, electric cooperatives, and other load-serving organizations. The segment's assets encompass ownership, operation, and investment in critical natural gas pipeline transmission and storage facilities. Overall, it serves around 1.6 million customers, with a significant portion (1.1 million) located in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and an additional 550,000 customers in southwestern Ohio and northern Kentucky. The Commercial Renewables segment is dedicated to the acquisition, ownership, development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, primarily focusing on wind and solar power, alongside non-regulated renewable energy and energy storage solutions. These services are provided to a diverse clientele, including utilities, electric cooperatives, municipalities, and corporate clients. Its portfolio boasts 23 wind farms, 178 solar installations, 2 battery storage sites, and 71 fuel cell locations. These assets collectively contribute 3,554 MW of capacity across 22 U.S. states.
